[VIDEO] Horseback riders: is YOUR stiffness blocking your HORSE’S free movement?

Hey Horseback riders, Emily here, from TheSuppleRider.com.

Today we’re talking about stiffness

So many riders have too much stiffness, whether they’re anxious, compensating for an old injury, or just trying to “sit up straight”.

Unfortunately, stiffness doesn’t only block your independent movement, it blocks your horse’s freedom too.

But It doesn’t have to be this way

With the Alexander Technique, you can learn how to reduce stiffness and restore your body’s natural ease.

When I met Gina, she had low back pain and hip stiffness, and her horse was crooked as well.

We worked together to free up Gina’s tension.

As a result, her back felt better, and almost like magic, her horse went straighter right away

I just love it when clients find ease in their bodies and that personal ease and balance comes through to their horse!

When a rider has low back pain, they’re often advised to strengthen their core muscles in order to support the back.

In the June issue of USDF Connection magazine, equine biomechanics expert Hilary Clayton reviews an app that some riders are using to find out if they ride with a “neutral pelvis”. Let’s take a closer look.

Importance of neutral pelvis

Clayton says the “curves of the spine help “provide cushioning and to protect the back from injury. The neutral spine and pelvis posture minimizes stress on spinal structures and requires the least amount of energy to maintain”. And I agree!
